Trains

Take a unique trip around the world without packing a suitcase!

There are model railway layouts to see, model railways to operate and new for Summer 2016, Train Simulators, to give you a driver’s eye view, but you don’t have to be an enthusiast to have fun.

Each of the three floors features model layouts, with a mixture of 00 gauge and N gauge layouts showcasing 1930s and 1960s UK, Scotland, the Canadian Rockies, Holland and Belgium, Germany and under construction is a whole room dedicated to the USA.

These hand made model railways feature great trains of the past and present, along with scenery to capture the imagination of the countries on display. But it’s not just about the trains, there are some little fun scenes and details to look out for, so don’t forget to pick up a Spotter’s Guide at reception and see how many you can spot.

Here the children get a chance to operate the trains on two of the layouts, Little Train Driver’s World and Thomas’s Big Day Out, whilst the tiny visitors still love playing with a large wooden train set.

New for Summer 2016: Ever wondered what it would be like to drive a train? Well this Summer you’ll be able to hop in a Train Simulator cab and experience speed, scenery and iconic trains, for yourself. Each of the four simulators will have a different train and route to drive. You don’t have to be an avid train enthusiast to have fun at the controls of a train.
